PARIPPU DOSA (DAL DOSA)

Parippu Dosa is a protein packed dosa. It is made of dals (lentils) and rice. It is a quick dosa recipe since no fermenting of batter is required. Only the dals and rice needs to be soaked for 3 to 4 hours. It is nutritious, delicious and filling breakfast recipe. It can be served with any chutney or can be even eaten without any side dish.

 

Ingredients: 

(1 cup= 200 ml)

Raw Rice- ½ cup

Toor dal- ½ cup

Chana dal- ½ cup

Masoor dal- ¼ cup

Moong dal- ¼ cup

Methi/ Fenugreek seeds- 1/8 tsp.

Jeera- 1 tsp

Fennel seed/ saunf- ½ tsp

Dry red chillies- 3-4

Curry leaves- a handful

Pepper corns- ½ tsp

Hing – a pinch

Salt – to taste

Oil- as required.

Preparation Method: Step by Step

  • Wash and soak rice and all lentils along with methi seeds for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Drain the water and grind rice, lentils and methi seeds together with jeera, saunf, dry red chillies, pepper corns and curry leaves into a coarse batter.
  • Add hing and salt to the batter and mix well using a ladle.
  • The batter is ready to use.
  • Heat a dosa pan.
  • Pour the batter and spread it in circular motion. Drizzle a tsp of oil around the dosa.
  • Cook the dosa on both sides till it turns golden brown.
  • Parippu dosa is ready to be served.
  • Enjoy with Cocunut Chutney.

 

Suggestions:

  • Onions, ginger, green chillies and coriander leaves can also be added while grinding. These will enhance the taste of the dosas.
  • Dry Kashmiri chillies can also be added. This gives a reddish colour to the dosa.
